Character Consistency in Midjourney

FREE download

Hello Design Daredevil.

I’ve got a couple of things for you today.

I’ve made a new PDF for you. It’s FREE (or not, if you wish to support my work). I’ll talk more about it at the end of this post and if you can’t wait, you can find it here.

Adobe released Generative Fill in Photoshop. Which is basically Inpainting in Stable Diffusion. I’ve written a guide on techniques and workflows with it, so if you want to get ahead with the new technologies, you might want to read it.

Now, lets get to today’s post. It’s going to be a good one.

How to get consistent characters?

Is one of the most questions I get asked most often.

Image prompting and using the same seed in Midjourney can sometimes give us what we want.

Img2img and controlNET in Stable Diffusion is even better at it.

In this post I want to introduce you a new app which you can use with Midjourney. It’s called InsightFace.

With it we can save a characters face as a faceID and then paste it into different images.

Let me show you how it works.

You first need to invite the bot to your discord server.

When you have the bot in your server you will have a few command available with it.

We want to select the /saveid

Upload an image of your characters face and give it a name.

Front view, no glasses, clear images will give you better results.

Now, let’s create a new image with Midjourney and upscale it. We can right click on the image and navigate to apps, where we will select INswapper.

It will generate a new image with the face we have selected in our saveID.

Inswapper will use the last ID you saved as the default one. We can save multiple and set the one we want as default by using the command /setid

We can upload images to discord and use the Inswapper on them or we can use the command /swapid to do it directly without uploading.

This makes it very easy to put your characters face into different scenes and styles.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post!

I’ll be sharing more techniques for consistency with Stable Diffusion as well. An even more exciting and controllable workflow.

Until then, I’ve made a new PDF for you called Content Creators Quick Guide to AI.

It has techniques and workflows you can use to quickly create content - images, text, voices.

If you are creating in any of those formats, you will find a few new techniques and workflows you can explore to move your creations to new areas.

You can also stop by my website or social media and as always,

Keep creating and don't forget to have fun. ☀
